Train and coach tickets: what you can change if a gig moves
Train and coach tickets bought for a gig follow the operator's normal rules, not the gig's. A cancellation doesn't change them, so it pays to know them before you book.
| Ticket | If the gig's cancelled | If it's postponed |
|---|---|---|
| Advance (train) | No refund | Move to another date for £10 plus any fare difference |
| Anytime / Off-Peak (train) | Refundable until 23:59 the day before you travel (fee up to £5) | Refund, then rebook |
| National Express Fully Flexible | Refundable 24 hours or more before departure | Change or refund |
| National Express Standard | No refund | Change for £5 |
| Megabus | No refund | Change for about £3.75 |
Which to buy
- Gig a long way off? Advance tickets are cheapest, and if the gig is postponed you can still move them for £10. If it's cancelled outright, they're lost.
- Not sure the gig will happen? An Off-Peak return can be refunded until the night before, which covers most short-notice cancellations.
- Coach: pay the little extra for National Express Fully Flexible if you want your money back.
- Driving? Sharing a car with other fans costs nothing to cancel.
