AO Arena, Manchester: hotels, trains and parking
The AO Arena is built into Manchester Victoria station, so few arenas are easier to reach by train. The arena says it's no more than about 180 metres from the station to the entrance: take the lift beside the stairs up to bridge level and you come out at the City Rooms entrance.
Coming from Piccadilly
Piccadilly, not Victoria, is Manchester's main station. From there it's about 1.9km to the arena, around 25 minutes on foot. The tram is the easier option: Metrolink runs to Victoria from Rochdale, Bury, Altrincham, East Didsbury and the Airport. Shudehill bus station is five minutes' walk from the arena, and Piccadilly bus station is ten.
Driving
The on-site car park is run by CitiPark, with 958 spaces you can pre-book on its website. Its 40 Blue Badge bays go first come, first served. The postcode is M3 1AR. One thing to know before you park: after a concert, Trinity Way is closed southbound between Great Ducie Street and Cheetham Hill Road for up to an hour. You can still get out of the car park by a diversion, but it won't be quick. The free Metrolink park and ride sites (Ladywell, Hollinwood, Ashton Moss and Sale Water Park) avoid that.
Where to stay
The three hotels Google puts top for the arena are the Premier Inn Manchester City Centre (Arena/Printworks), Travelodge Manchester Central Arena and Holiday Inn Express Manchester City Centre Arena. Hotel Indigo on Todd Street is about six minutes' walk away. If you're after the closest Premier Inn, it's the one with Arena in its name.

Getting home
If your train home leaves from Victoria, you're laughing. If it's from Piccadilly, allow for the tram or the 25-minute walk before you pick a departure. An Off-Peak or Anytime ticket can be refunded up to the day before; an Advance can't. More in train and coach tickets if a gig moves.
